Black Friday 2026 for Saltwater Anglers and Boaters: What Is Worth Buying, and What Can Wait

Quick answer

Black Friday is November 27, 2026. Time the sale for gear you buy once and keep: Costa Rincon II sunglasses, a Uniden Atlantis 275 radio, an ACR ResQLink View beacon and an RTIC 45 QT cooler. Buy a life jacket before the next trip, and line, reel lube, shirts and boots when you need them, in your size.

Saltwater gear splits into two piles for Black Friday: things you buy once and keep for years, and things you buy when they wear out or when the season starts. The first pile is worth waiting a few weeks for. The second is worth buying when you need it, in the right size. Below are ten products from our guides sorted that way, and the checks that tell a real discount from a badge.

How we chose: we did not test these products. Each comes from one of our guides, with the facts from the maker's page or listing, and on October 3, 2026 every one was in stock and sold by Amazon.com or the brand's own store, checked through Amazon's product data.

Black Friday 2026 dates, and what Amazon has said

Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. As of October 3, 2026, Amazon's news site had announced Prime Big Deal Days for October 6 and 7 and nothing about a 2026 Black Friday event.

For 2025, Amazon's Black Friday announcement said its Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deals started "November 20 at 12:01 am PST" and ran "through December 1," with Black Friday itself on November 28. Amazon has not said whether 2026 follows the same shape.

Worth timing for the sale

Small white boat with a cabin top running across open blue-green sea, seen from above, a long white wake trailing behind it
A radio, a beacon, a cooler and glass sunglasses are bought once; a few weeks' wait costs nothing.

Sunglasses. The Costa Rincon II Blue Mirror 580G is the offshore pick in our polarized sunglasses guide: Costa's listing says Blue Mirror "is best for bright, full-sun situations on the open water and offshore," on 580 glass with 100% UV protection. Glass sunglasses last for years, so nothing is lost by waiting.

A handheld radio. The Uniden Atlantis 275 floats, meets IPX8 / JIS8 and transmits at 6 W, per Uniden, which is why our handheld VHF guide matches it to center consoles and bay boats. It has no DSC, so there is no MMSI to program and nothing to register.

A beacon. The ACR ResQLink View RLS floats on its own, shows each stage of an activation on a screen and confirms through Return Link Service that the alert was received, per ACR. Our personal locator beacon guide makes it the pick for anyone who fishes alone.

Two things about a beacon don't change with the price. NOAA says you must register it, free, for two years at a time. And ACR says the battery must be replaced after 5 years or after emergency use, so read the battery replacement date on the label when it arrives; that clock did not start on the day you bought it.

A cooler. The RTIC 45 QT Ultra-Tough is rotomolded with up to 2.8 in of closed-cell foam, per its listing, and fits up to 60 cans. Our YETI vs RTIC comparison found no YETI hard cooler sold by Amazon.com or a YETI store, so RTIC is the rotomolded cooler we can link.

Don't wait if you don't have one: the life jacket

A life jacket is the one item here that should not wait for a sale if you are without one you will wear. The Coast Guard's 2024 recreational boating statistics say that where life jacket use was known, 87% of the people who drowned in boating incidents were not wearing one.

The Onyx A/M-24 is the inflatable in our inflatable vs foam guide: Coast Guard approved for users 16 and older over 80 lb, and sized for 30 to 52 in chests, per the listing. It rearms with Onyx kit #1352, which we found only from third-party sellers, so price the spare kit before you count any saving.

The Coast Guard's How to Choose the Right Life Jacket brochure marks every inflatable style "Not for children under 16 or non-swimmers," so a discounted inflatable is no gift for either; they need foam in their weight range.

Buy when you need it, in your size

Spinning rod and reel standing upright against a sunset over a calm sea, the clouds lit from below
Line and reel lube are consumables: buy them when you respool or service, not for a date on the calendar.

Sun shirts. Apparel listings price each colour and size on their own, and they are marked down through the year one variant at a time. The Huk Pursuit Vented Hoodie is UPF 50+ per its listing with mesh vented sides, and the Columbia PFG Terminal Tackle is UPF 50 per Columbia's page; both are in our UPF fishing shirt guide. If you need one before Thanksgiving, buy it now in your size.

Size matters more than the badge. The Skin Cancer Foundation says fabric that is stretched or wet "will lose some of its protective ability," so a sun shirt bought a size small because that size was marked down protects less than one that fits loose.

Deck boots. The same goes for the Huk Rogue Wave, the ankle boot with a non-marking Grip-X outsole in our deck boot guide. It comes in whole sizes only, and Huk says, "For half-sizes, we recommend sizing up." A boot in the wrong size is no saving however far it is marked down.

Line. Sufix 832 braid is 0.009 in across at 20 lb on Sufix's chart, the main line in our saltwater line guide. Berkley's braid guide says braid "often lasts longer on your reel" because of its UV resistance and low water absorption, so a spool bought in November keeps until the braid on the reel frays.

Reel lube. The PENN Reel Grease and Oil bundle covers the lubrication step in our reel care guide. Daiwa's service page says a reel "should be maintained once a year" and suggests the off season. For anglers whose season ends with the cold, Black Friday falls inside that window, which makes this the one consumable the date suits.

How to tell a real discount

  • Note the price now. The table above prints Amazon's current price for each pick and when it was fetched. Save the number and compare it on the day. The listing's own "was" price is not your reference.
  • Check the seller. Sellers change between October and November, and the "Sold by" line in your cart is the one that counts. The FTC's online shopping advice says paying by credit card "best protects you and your money" if something goes wrong.
  • Check the model and the size. ACR's ResQLink 400 and ResQLink View RLS are different beacons, and our tide watch guide found the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar Tactical sold by Amazon.com while the plain Instinct 3 Solar came from a reseller. Apparel is priced by variant and boots come in whole sizes.
  • Check recalls. Our recall list covers CPSC and FDA notices for marine gear since 2023. The CPSC's Igloo recall of 90 Qt Flip & Tow rolling coolers in February 2025, expanded in May 2025, covers a fingertip amputation and crushing hazard from the tow handle; check the model name on any wheeled Igloo against the notice. The one YETI recall since 2023 covered soft coolers and gear cases, not hard coolers.

We found no recalls for Costa, Uniden, ACR, RTIC, Onyx, Huk, Columbia, Sufix or PENN in that list.

Low sun on a pier: for anglers whose season ends with the cold, the sale lands in the off-season window Daiwa suggests for reel service.

What we left out

YETI hard coolers, XTRATUF and Grundéns deck boots, and the tide-graph G-Shocks in our G-Shock vs Garmin comparison were sold on Amazon only by resellers when we checked, so none is linked here. Nothing on this page predicts what will be discounted; neither Amazon nor these brands publish sale prices in advance.

Related: USCG required safety equipment, fishing coolers, gifts for saltwater anglers and boaters.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving; Cyber Monday is November 30. As of October 3, 2026, Amazon had not announced the dates of its own 2026 event.

Should I wait for Cyber Monday instead?

In 2025 Amazon ran one event from November 20 through December 1, so Black Friday and Cyber Monday were days inside the same sale rather than two separate ones. If 2026 follows that shape, the price you noted is the comparison on either day.

Is a life jacket a good Black Friday buy?

Only as a spare. If you have none you will wear, buy it now. For an inflatable, the Coast Guard's life jacket wear page says it must have "a full cylinder and all status indicators on the inflator must be green, or the device is NOT serviceable," so check both the day it arrives.
