Marine gear data you can download
The tables behind our data pages, as JSON and CSV. Every row is built from the same source the page shows: today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's and the Food and Drug Administration's public recall data, with each row linked to its official notice. Figures a source does not publish are left empty, never estimated.
CPSC and FDA recalls of marine, fishing, paddle and sun gear since 2023
26 U.S. recalls since 2023-01-01 that we matched to gear used on salt water: 13 from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (coolers, dive gear, fishing gear, tools, flotation and paddle gear) and 13 from the Food and Drug Administration (sunscreen, from FDA recall announcements and its Enforcement Report), with company, category, hazard, remedy and the official notice URL. Matched by product name; boats, engines and Coast Guard recalls are not included.

How to cite
Cite the dataset name, SaltProofLab, the page URL, and the date the data was last updated, for example: “CPSC and FDA recalls of marine, fishing, paddle and sun gear since 2023, SaltProofLab, https://saltprooflab.com/recalls (data as of 2026-09-29).” For a safety rule or a recall, also cite the original authority linked in the row.
FDA and CPSC data is U.S. government public data. Manufacturer figures, where a dataset has them, belong to their makers and are cited row by row. The compilation is free to use with attribution to saltprooflab.com.
