**PVC** is what most bait spikes are made of. Dr.Fish's listing says its PVC tube is "unaffected by saltwater or freshwater," and there are no joints or clamps to corrode. A 27 in PVC tube is simple and light enough to carry several.

**Aluminum** spikes are thinner, take a sharper point and can telescope.
